周长江，1978年毕业于上海戏剧学院美术系油画专业，1985年调入上海油画雕塑院从事专业创作，曾任副院长，副书记，艺术委员会主任等职，为国家一级美术师职称，2003年调入华东师范大学艺术教育系，为学科带头人，主要专业是油画，研究现当代艺术。现为华东师范大学艺术学院院长，终身教授。中国美术家协会会员，中国油画学会常务理事，中国国家画院研究员，上海美术家协会副主席，上海文化发展基金会专家组成员，上海大学美术学院兼职教授，山东大学艺术学院兼职教授，上海戏剧学院教育发展咨询顾问，刘海粟美术馆艺术委员会委员，上海双年展学术委员会执行委员，上海艺术博览会艺术委员会委员。
周长江同志在上海乃至全国艺术界是一位颇具影响的艺术家，其从艺30年来，对艺术不倦的追求，对学术深入的探讨，使他从一个颇具功力的写实油画家演变成一个非常有创造力的抽象艺术家。他在当代文化进程中自觉的更新能力，对艺术形式的敏感、新锐，和对传统文化现代转型的热衷，使他对推动中国油画的现代化发展作出了积极贡献。尤其是他著名的“互补”为主题的系列作品，从二元互补这样一种思维出发，去研究东方哲学思想在西方抽象形式中实现现代转换的可能性，并由此深入对绘画本体的构成、肌理、材料等元素自身的研究，富有品质的作品显示了他个人的文化修养和艺术天赋。其代表性的作品《互补系列NO.120》在第七界全国美展中荣获银奖，“创建国以来第一次非具像作品的最高奖赏”。20多年来坚持在同一主题专注挖掘，使他在抽象绘画领域中成就显著，艺术成果丰硕，其作品从平面油画走向综合材料，从单一的互补视觉形式探索，走向了互补的文化思考，舆论称他为上海抽象绘画的领军人物，代表性画家。他创作的作品在上海等省市级以及全国和国际艺术展览中获得了较高等级的奖项，多件作品被国家级、省市级和国外博物馆收藏，为发展艺术，繁荣艺术市场，推动社会主义精神文明建设作出了积极的贡献。
