凃克，1916生于广西，1935年考入国立杭州艺专油画系就读。后来投笔从戎，成为新四军中的一位著名艺术家。在军中曾接受过美国著名记者、作家史莫特莱女士的采访。1949年，凃克先生随陈毅将军部队进入上海受命创办“上海美术工厂”任创作组长，后来“美术工厂”改名为“上海美术设计公司”，凃克任总经理。1953年至1963年，涂克先生任上海市文化局美术科科长，美术处处长。并兼任华东美术家协会常务理事，上海市音乐家协会常务理事。期间受命创办了“上海画院”并任秘书长，创办“上海美术学校”任教务长兼油画系、雕塑系主任。后来，凃克先生还担任了广西书画院院长，中国美术家协会理事，中国美术家协会广西分会主席，广西文联副主席等职。



Tu Ke (b.1916) was born in Guangxi and entered he Department of Oil Painting in Hangzhou National College of Art in 1935. Later, he gave up his study and became a famous artist in the new 4th army corps. When he was in the army, he was interviewed by a famous American journalist and writer – Ms Smotlay. In 1949, Tu Ke went to Shanghai and was commissioned to create the Shanghai Art Workshop, and was assigned as the creative director in general Chenyi’s army. Later, the Shanghai Art Workshop was renamed as Shanghai Art Designing Company, and Tu Ke was the general manager. From 1952 to 1953, Tu Ke was assigned as a section chief of the fine art section in the Shanghai Cultural Bureau, and the head of Fine Art Department. Also he is a permanent director of Shanghai Musician Association. During this period he was ordered to create the Shanghai Painting Academy, and became secretary general. He also started the Shanghai Fine Art School and became dean and department head of the Oil Painting Major and Sculpture Major. Later, Tu Ke was also assigned as the dean of the Guangxi Painting and Calligraphy Academy, director and president of The Chinese Artist Association, Guangxi Branch, vice president of Guangxi Cultural Association, etc. (Lot 1413, 1414)
